Before you choose fabric: Woven interfacing is not required when using vinyl, cork, faux leather, faux suede, or waterproof canvas, However, if your material has a subtle one-way stretch, woven interfacing may be used to add stability and help prevent stretching during construction.
01 Fabrics
Exterior
Approximately 1 yd. (100 cm) of exterior fabric.
Lining
Approximately 1 yd. (100 cm) of lining fabric.
02 Interfacing & Stabilizer
- Lightweight woven fusible interfacing: Approximately 1–2 yd. (100–200 cm), such as Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or Sew Fuse. Not required when using vinyl, cork or waterproof canvas.
- Main stabilizer: Approximately 1/2 yd. (50 cm) of Pellon Flex Foam FF78F1, Decovil Light, or two layers of Sew Fuse Plus.
- Decovil Heavy 526: Approximately 1/4 yd. (25 cm) for the bag base and/or flap (optional).
03 Hardware
- 1 Turn Lock
- 1 Magnetic Snap
- 2 × 1" (25 mm) O-Rings, D-Rings or Rectangle Rings
- 1 × 1" (25 mm) Tri-Glide/Strap Slider
- 5–6 Rivets or Chicago Screws. Choose 6–7 mm posts for thinner fabrics or 8–9 mm posts for thicker fabrics.
- 2 × 1" (25 mm) Strap Ends (optional, recommended)
- 4 Purse Feet (optional, recommended)
- 2 × 1" (25 mm) Swivel Snap Hooks (optional, recommended)
04 Zippers & Binding
- Main closure: 16" of #5 zipper tape + 1–2 pulls
- Lining zipper pocket: 8" of #3 or #5 zipper tape + 1 pull
- Binding: Approximately 2 1/4 yd. (210 cm) of 1/2" (13 mm) wide double-fold bias binding if you are not making your own.
05 Sewing Tools & Supplies
- Double-Sided Tape
- Rotary Cutter or Scissors
- Grid Ruler / Cutting Mat
- Duct Tape to protect the magnetic snap prongs
- Air Erasable Fabric Pen
- Fray Check for the magnetic snap cuts (optional)
- Rivet Setter Tool or Rivet Press
