Use this sewing pattern print percentage calculator to estimate the finished size of your bag before you print your pattern.

Enter the finished height, width, and depth listed in the sewing pattern. Then enter the print scale percentage you want to test.

For example, printing a pattern at 80% will make the finished bag smaller. Printing at 125% will make the finished bag larger.

Helpful Tip: If you are trying to choose the right bag size, start by measuring a purse or bag you already own and like.

Measure the height, width, and depth of that bag.

Then enter the finished bag measurements listed in the sewing pattern into the calculator below.

Next, choose a print scale percentage to see what the estimated finished bag size would be after resizing the pattern.

If the estimated size is not close to the bag size you want, adjust the percentage and try again until the measurements are closer to your desired finished size.

Depending on the style of bag, you may want to keep the depth, also called the gusset, the same instead of resizing it proportionally. When sizing a pattern down, the depth can sometimes become too narrow or shallow for practical use.

Please Note: Results are estimates. Fabric thickness, interfacing, seam allowances, and construction methods may slightly affect the final finished size.
