Hardware & Supplies

Everything you need for your Tag-Along Bag. First choose Style A (water bottle) or Style B (purse); quantities below are for one bag.

Shop the Tag-Along Hardware Kit

Select the kit for your chosen style. Shop fabric, zipper tape, binding and sewing tools separately.

Pick your style: The shared supplies apply to both styles. Style A adds a drawstring closure; Style B adds a magnetic snap and front zipper pocket.

01   Fabrics

Exterior

Approximately 1/2 yd. (50 cm), plus a 3" wide × 55" long (8 × 140 cm) piece if making your own crossbody strap.

Lining

Approximately 1/2 yd. (50 cm).

02   Interfacing & Stabilizer

  • Woven fusible interfacing: Approximately 1 yd. (100 cm), such as Sew Woven or Pellon ShapeFlex SF101. Generally not required for vinyl, cork or waterproof canvas; useful for stabilizing materials with subtle one-way stretch.
  • Lightweight stabilizer: Approximately 1/4 yd. (23 cm) of Decovil Light or two layers of Sew Fuse Plus.

03   Both Styles: Hardware & Zipper

  • Zipper panel: 12" (31 cm) of #5 zipper tape + 1–2 matching pulls.
  • 2 × 3/4" (19 mm) Swivel Snap Hooks
  • 1 × 3/4" (19 mm) Strap Slider
  • Approximately 60" (152.5 cm) of 1/2" (13 mm) wide double-fold bias binding if you are not making your own.
  • 1–2 × 3/4" (19 mm) Strap Ends (optional, recommended)
  • 1 Bag Tag (optional, recommended)
  • 8–10 Rivets or Chicago screws (optional, recommended). Use 6–7 mm posts for thinner fabrics or 8–9 mm posts for thicker fabrics.

04   Style A: Water Bottle

  • 2 × 3/4" (19 mm) D-Rings
  • 1 Cord Lock
  • 25" (64 cm) of drawstring cord if you are not making your own. Shoelaces, ribbon, leather lacing, clothesline, paracord or twill tape can also work.
